Are You Smarter than a Gaston County Fifth Grader?

The Gaston County Education Foundation will sponsor the second annual Are You Smarter than a Gaston County Fifth Grader, Thursday, February 9, 6:00-8:30 p.m., Forestview High School Auditorium. The funds raised at the event will provide GCS teachers mini-grants for innovative classroom ideas.  Local business teams will compete for the championship and bragging rights as the smartest corporate team in the county. Each team will partner with a Gaston County elementary school -- the students will assist the team as coaches and cheerleaders. Corporate teams donate $500.00 to participate in the event. Admission is $3.00.

Last year's event was a huge success. We’re very proud of the schools and business leaders who participated in the competition that kept us screaming and on the edge of our seats until the very end. Congratulations to Woodhill and the school’s business partner BB&T for winning first place honors. Bessemer City Central took home the Spirit Award for having the most pep during the event.
