MS. CHRISTINA M. WHELAN

September 1, 1983 to August 30, 2011

     Has your child ever had the pleasure of being a part of a classroom learning environment that focused on…creative interaction, total integration of technology, learning through music and movement, collaboration with peers, and building responsibility while having their individual needs met?

     For the past 6 years students at Brookside Elementary School had the privilege of all this and more!  Ms. Whelan was a vibrant teacher who dedicated each day to providing a successful experience for all her students.  Her goal for education was to make learning fun.  She possessed a natural gift which she shared with all colleagues and students alike.

     Christina was never afraid to take on a new challenge. She was elected to serve on the School Improvement Team, served as a Grade Level Facilitator, and Co-Chairperson of the Student Services Management Team.  She was a member of Relay for Life, Social Committee and was always willing to help a peer wherever needed.  She taught First Grade and Third Grade and was the author of many successful grants in the integration of technology, math and reading.  She faced all challenges with a smile and the determination to succeed.

     Christina’s inner strength and love for children are two of the attributes that were highly respected and admired by the Brookside Elementary staff and parents.  Her students respected her for the inviting classroom she created to foster their individual successes.  

     Christina leaves a legacy of teaching successes that will inspire all the lives she touched…students, staff and parents alike for many years to come.
