Questions for you to ask your child after evening reading (Try to pick at least 2 to 3 each day):

 

Characters: Who is in the story? What are the characters like? Does a character remind you of someone in your life? Who? How?

Setting/Place: Where does the story take place? Describe it? Does it remind you of a place you know? What place? How?

Time: When does the story happen? What clues helped you know?

Problem: What is it that one or more characters wants to do or wants to happen by the end of the story?

Events: What happens in the story that helps the characters solve the problem? What happens first? What happens next?  What happens last?

Author’s Purpose: Why do you think the author wrote this book? What lesson(s) did he/she want us to learn?

Connections: Did you like the book? Why or why not?  Did this book remind you of another book you have read? If so, which one and how?  Did the book remind you of something in your life? What?
