Gaston County students are not required to bring any supplies with them to school in order to access our educational programs. If you would like to purchase personal supplies for your child, this list may act as an optional guide. While the following items are not requirements, donations by parents, businesses, civic organizations, or faith-based organizations are always greatly appreciated.

New Hope Elementary Supply Lists (2009-2010)

Kindergarten – facial tissue, band-aids, beach towel (no mats please) Optional items – Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer

First Grade – 2 dozen yellow pencils, (Paper mate or Ticonderoga, please), 16 or smaller pack crayons, 1 pack thin expo markers, 2 boxes gallon size zip-lock bags, 2 boxes quart zip-loc bags, 8 glue sticks, Fisker child sized scissors, letter size clipboard, 2 boxes tissues, 1 container Clorox wipes, 2 rolls paper towels, 14 oz. bag M&Ms or Skittles.  Please do not buy a book bag for your first grader, we have small cubbies and tote bags will be provided for each child.  Please only label clipboards and scissors.  Other items will be used as community resources for the whole class. A few items may be added to the supply list at orientation as needed by each specific teacher.

Second Grade – 2 packs WIDE rule loose leaf paper, 4 composition books (70 pages), 3 pocket folders w/ prongs, 2 packs of pencils, 1 pack of thin markers, 1 box 24 count crayons, 2 glue sticks, 1 dry erase marker, 1 pair scissors, 1 package of pencil erasers, 1 box facial tissue, 1 container Clorox wipes, 1 pencil box, 1 clipboard.  You will need a homework binder.  Please wait until after orientation to purchase.  Your child's teacher may request some additional supplies for their specific classroom at orientation. 

Third Grade – 1 yellow highlighter, 4 packs pencils, 4 packs loose leaf  notebook paper, 1 pack colored pencils or crayons, 6 one subject spiral notebooks, 1 wireless composition book (writing), 1 pack glue sticks, 2 containers Clorox wipes, 1 box quart or gallon sized zip lock bags, 2 boxes of Kleenex, 1 box band aids, 1 pencil bag with zipper, 1 Clipboard.  Additional items may be requested once individual teacher assignments have been made.

Fourth Grade – 3 wire bound notebooks (8 ½ by 11), 2 folders with side pockets, 8 tennis balls ( 1 ½ inch cut in each), 2 packs pencils, No mechanical pencils please, loose leaf notebook paper, clipboard, one inch size vinyl notebook binder, colored pencils or crayons, erasers, glue sticks, 2 boxes of Kleenex, 1 bottle of hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes (1 per child), $10 for each student to cover classroom events throughout the year (i.e. holiday parties and treats, $2/each event).    Items that are appreciated: Ziploc bags (pint, quart, gallon size), band aids

Fifth Grade – 1 pack college ruled notebook paper, 2 three subject notebooks, 5 one subject notebooks, 4 pocket folders, 4 tennis balls (1 ½ inch cut in each), 1 box Kleenex, 1 container of antibacterial wipes (boys only),  1 box band aids (girls only), Optional Items: Ziploc bags of any size or anything else you feel you need.
