Gaston County students are not required to bring any supplies with them to school in order to access our educational programs. If you would like to purchase personal supplies for your child, this list may act as an optional guide. While the following items are not requirements, donations by parents, businesses, civic organizations, or faith-based organizations are always greatly appreciated.
Your child's teacher may request additional supplies for their specific classroom at orientation.
New Hope Elementary Supply Lists (2011-2012)
Kindergarten – facial tissue, band-aids, beach towel (no mats please), Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer.
First Grade – 12 pencils, 1 pack wide ruled notebook paper, 1 pack of white copy paper, 1 pair of scissors, 1 clipboard, 1 box tissues. Boys: Clorox Wipes & gallon plastic bags. Girls: baby wipe refill pack and snack size plastic bags. Please do not purchase book bags until after orientation.
Second Grade – 2 wide ruled composition books (70 pages), 2 pocket folders with prongs, 2 packs of pencils, 1 pack of thin markers, 2 glue sticks, 1 dry erase marker, 1 pair of scissors, 1 package of pencil erasers, 1 box facial tissue, 2 containers of Clorox wipes, 24 box of crayons, 1 pencil box. Boys: 1 box of quart bags. Girls: 1 box of gallon bags, 1” white homework binder with a clear pocket on the front. Please no large 3 ring notebooks or trapper keepers and no rolling bookbags.
Third Grade – 1 highlighter, 1 pack of pencils, 2 packs of loose leaf notebook paper, 3 one subject spiral notebooks, 2 wireless composition books, 1 glue stick, 1 clipboard, 1 pack of colored pencils, 1 pack of crayons, 1 pencil bag with zipper, 2 folders with pockets, One of the following: Clorox wipes, quart bags, facial tissue, band-aids, hand sanitizer.
Fourth Grade – 4 wire bound notebooks (8 ½ by 11), 2 folders with side pockets, 2 packs pencils, loose leaf notebook paper, clipboard, colored pencils or crayons, glue sticks, box of Kleenex, 1 bottle of hand sanitizer, no rolling bookbags, no large three ring notebooks or trapper keepers, Gallon plastic bags, band aids.
Fifth Grade – 1 pack college ruled notebook paper, 1 three subject notebook, 1 dozen pencils, 4 one subject notebooks, 4 pocket folders, 4 tennis balls (1 ½ inch cut in each), 1 box facial tissue, 1 container of antibacterial wipes (boys only), 1 box band aids (girls only), Ziploc bags of any size or anything else you feel you need.
