Author Visit: Johnathan Miller May 29, 2012Use SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).
Local Author, Johnathan Miller will visit Rhyne May 29, 2012.  He will speak to students on the importance of the writing process, publishing, editing, and making illustrations for books. Mr. Miller will conduct two presentations starting at 9:00 a.m.   Mr. Miller is originally from Clover, S.C. and has penned two books, Sammy’s Last Week in Charleston, which is rich in history, and more recently Sammy on Safari, an African travel tale that shows the importance of helping others. A third book, Sammy in Space, which will hit bookshelves in late May.

Students in grades 3-5 will begin the End of Grade (EOG)testing starting Friday May 11 (5th grade Science), Tuesday May 15 (Reading), Wednesday May 16 (Math Active) and Thursday May 17 (Math Inactive).  Please encourage your child to get plenty of rest and to eat a healthy breakfast each morning before the tests.

Kindergarten registration will begin at all schools, April 30- May 4, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM.  To start kindergarten this fall, a child must be five years old on or before August 31, 2012. Parents/guardians should bring the following to registration:
  • The child’s certified birth certificate – this should be obtained from a register of deeds office or state vital records office.
  • Up-to-date immunization (shot) record.
  • Health assessment (check-up) completed on or after August 25, 2011 by a certified health care professional.
  • Proof of address.
